Charge Nurse of Haemodialysis Unit in University Hospitals  Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Presents an Abstract in UK Kidney Week 2026 in Harrogate, England 

A Filipino-British Charge Nurse in Ward 301's acute haemodialysis unit  in the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust in England, UK, Mr. Pompei Banayos, authored an abstract and presented it in the United Kingdom Kidney Week 2026, which was held in the Harrogate Convention Centre in Yorkshire on 10-12 March 2026. 

The three-day conference was attended by more than 1,100 healthcare professionals from all over the United Kingdom, other European countries, and the United States. It created an excellent opportunity for conversation, learning, and shared experience across the UK kidney community and beyond. Global kidney health and genomics to workforce, inequality and the future of kidney care were among the key topics included in the programme this year. The delegates showed strong engagement throughout the plenary session and lectures. 

Banayos was hugely successful on the presentation of his abstract - Regional haemodialysis hub:  Bridging the gap in providing emergency renal support for West Midlands hospitals without haemodialysis facilities - A haemodialysis delivery.  He showcased his department; a 41-station haemodialysis unit - the biggest in West Midlands (one of the biggest haemodialysis units in England) - providing emergency/urgent haemodialysis facilities covering the West Midlands, Worcestershire, and Herefordshire. He highlighted how busy his unit is and the role of the nurse-in-charge in liasing and organising safe transfer and haemodialysis delivery to all patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. 

The significant contribution of Mr. Pompei Banayos to the conference has key significance to the development and advancement of the haemodialysis service he delivers to his patients with his team. His dedication and expertise in kidney care are reflected on the high quality of care patients receive in his care. He is deeply committed to learning and professional development. 

Banayos has been a dedicated and amazing nurse in Birmingham for almost 25 years. He will be celebrating his 25th year anniversary of his arrival in the UK from the Philippines in August this year. He is married to Mrs. Lucy Banayos who is also a nurse - a clinical business analyst and change manager in the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. 

Mr. Pompei Banayos and his wife are both talented singers. They performed in Birmingham's International Convention Center in a production - "Life and Times" which celebrated all that the Heart of England NHS Trust had achieved on its 60th anniversary. 

Banayos is also a lead vocalist of Acoustic Harmony band, founded by Paul Fernandez, in Birmingham.
