On 2 May 2026, the very first Philippine Independence Day celebration held in Limburg, Belgium, brought together hundreds of Filipinos and Belgians for a historical, stylish, momentous, and meaningful celebration that created memories for everyone to cherish for a lifetime. The opening 'salvo' was the Parade of Pride & Heritage which was a vibrant display of beauty, style, culture, heritage, faith, unity, and identity - setting a joyful tone to the fullcelebration that was witnessed with much anticipation by all who came to celebrate and participate. It was a lived experience of Filipino cultural immersion in the southernmost province out of the 12 provinces in the Netherlands - an area that strikes a good balance between innovation and a love of tradition.
At the heart of the spectacular cultural celebration was Amy Balbawang whose passion, vision, artistry, and dedication brought the celebration to life in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium - with such remarkable impact to the Filipino community in Limburg.
